Movie Review:
Dark Exposures starts off immediately with a murder followed by a flashback which eventually leads up to this event. Tom Bennet, a detective with an eye for detail is visited by Lyn Chase, an upset wife who thinks her husband, Sammy is seeing another woman. Bennett's narration describes his inner feelings of what's going on in his mind. He is hired by Lyn to spy on Sammy to see if he really is seeing somebody else. He takes pictures from his car parked outside of what appears to be the "other woman's" apartment. Bennet witnesses a shooting and quickly drives off. The papers the next day reveal that Mr. Chase was murdered. Bennett goes forth to learn more about Lyn and finds out more than what he bargained for.

DVD Information:
Dark Exposures is in Anamorphic Widescreen form (Aspect Ratio 2.35:1). There is also Cast and Crew Filmographies, Scene Selection, Theatrical and DVD trailers and Posters. Finally, the disc is filled with extras and here is summary of them.

- The Making of Dark Exposures : This feature alone is worth the purchase of this DVD. Dastoli Digital goes into great detail with the "Behind the Scenes" of the special effects, shooting locations and the challenges they faced in completing the film. Aspiring film makers and special effects artists will enjoy watching the progression of a scene from it's raw digital video footage to the detective-noir look added in post production. Even the subtle lighting effects draws the viewer in to this dark pulp novel.

- The Visual Effects of Dark Exposures: Much like the "Making of..." portion of the DVD, the Visual Effects goes into detail with the use of shadows and layers to integrate subtle but striking atmosphere. This feature shows the Dastoli brothers at Universal Studios in Florida recording and taking snapshots of old buildings which they later integrate seamlessly into Dark Exposures.

- Deleted Material and Alternate Cuts: There are several scenes which were cut in order to tell the story better. Some highlights include alternative point of views during the stakeout, an alternate ending, enhancements to the diner scene and the inclusion of extra background props just to name a few.

Conclusion:
Dark Exposures is a film which successfully integrates in the Detective-noir storytelling theme. Much care was taken to make the film's setting as historically accurate as possible. This is a great example of storytelling. .
